Appropriation

Appropriation has both its good aspects and its bad ones and trying its good points and its bad  points, and trying to control it is a futile effort.   Appropriation is when one takes ideas from another and uses them as their own.
It can be understood that all ideas and creativity is based off the world around us and people generate ideas from the ideas of others and what is around to influence them.  Essentially people feed off of each other.  Appropriation, in my opinion, is fine as long as people take the ideas or images and turn them into their own.  The image or idea must be totally different than the original, therefore making it your own work.
If people take and image or idea and do not in any way change or alter it, then it can be considered copyright and stealing of other people's work.  One must be careful to change the work and turn it into their own.

The Devil Went Down To Georgia

I chose to do the song the Devil Went Down to Georgia for my text project because it is a fun song that everyone knows.  I had the lyrics look as though they are the steam coming out from the pot and when you look closely you will then realize it is the words.

Salvador Dali

I have always had a great influence from the artist Salvador Dali. His unique subject matter and fluid painting style has always captivated me and caused me to strive to bring out my full potential. I particularly enjoy the piece to the left (Soft Construction with Boiled Beans) because Dali conveys such a desolate atmosphere and creates and intense amount of depth within the landscape. I admire his surrealistic style and his fluidity of paint on canvas. The smooth texture achieved in his paintings create a soft dreamlike emotion that captivates me and inspires me to do the same. In the painting below, (The Elephants) Dali once again imposes a great amount of depth that creates a great sense of desolation.
